Back To The 80's

Brittany Snow and her on-screen sister Krysten Ritter chat it up in this new still from CW’s Gossip Girl.

In the upcoming episode, Lily (Kelly Rutherford) contemplates Rufus’ (Matthew Settle) marriage proposal, periodic flashbacks from 20 years ago show a young Lily Rhodes (Snow) pursing a young Rufus. This makes Lily torn between leaving behind her posh and wealthy lifestyle in New York, and a prospective marriage proposal from the wealthy Keith van der Woodsen (Matt Barr), or choosing to live a life of lower classes with the penniless musician Rufus Humphrey.

“Valley Girls” airs Monday, May 11 @ 8PM ET/PT on The CW.

Brittany as Lily Rhodes!

Brittany Snow shoots scenes for the new Gossip Girl spin-off series on Tuesday at the Sip-n-Pump gas station next to Neptune Restaurant in Malibu, Calif.

The 23-year-old actress plays the main character in the show — Lily Rhodes. A source close to her has said, “Brittany loves the original show and thinks the 1980’s concept sets the spin-off apart from other series on television. She can’t wait to wear all the fabulous outfits and really sink her teeth into the role.”

Reality Index

Every Tuesday, the previous night's Gossip Girl is examined by the staff at New York Magazine and assigned scores according to its "reality index."
Check out some of the highlights from the magazine's analysis of In The Realm of the Basses
  • Blair Waldorf's address, according to the mail, is 1136 Fifth Avenue. Seems reasonable. Plus 5. Also, the Colony Club? Unfortunately real. Plus 2.
  • When Dan reaches to kiss Serena, he has a lovely manicure. Minus 1.
  • How awesome was it when Blair started shushing Dorota about Chuck, and Dorota instinctively started shushing herself? Plus 3.
  • People are allowed to give babies up for adoption! In fact, if parents aren't ready, it's a wonderful thing to do for a child and a set of hopeful parents. Minus 10 to the producers for making it seem so incessantly monstrous.
  • Jenny dyed her roots halfway through the episode! Plus 1.
  • Chuck shows up at school wasted, smoking hash and wearing a horrible (sans scarf) and all Blair can think about how he hasn’t said "I love you." Plus 1.

  • Let's discuss Uncle Jack. Hot, but a letdown. He's an idiot in this episode, and we're led to believe he's going to be an appropriate villain in the next? Minus 5.
  • The scene when Blair looks into the mirror, cries, gets serious, crumples, and freezes is perhaps the best moment all season. Plus 20. Where is her Emmy?!
  • Serena tells Dan she never e-mailed or called him after break because she "needed to make sure we both felt the same when the dust settled." Sure. Because teenagers are known for their patience and maturity. Minus 3.
  • Uncle Jack gives 15-year-old Eric van der Woodsen a drink and told him to enjoy it. Plus only 2, because how did that kid get in there anyway? Even a bouncer at Chuck's bar wouldn't let in someone who looks approximately nine.
  • Dan always has the most beautiful coats. Sorry, they don't have Zegna at Buffalo Exchange. We've checked. Minus 3.

  • Dan: "Well, you look tan." Serena: "Well, it is summer in Buenos Aires." Um,
Serena is white as a ghost. Minus 2.

The Georgina Has Landed

Sources confirm that Michelle Trachtenberg will be reprising her role as Serena van der Woodsen's (Blake Lively) nemesis Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl - and for multiple epsideos. She first appeared toward the end of Season One.

A Gossip Girl rep declined to comment on the record, but an inside source says Georgina, who was last seen being carted off to rehab, will reappear toward the end of the current Season two. Wonder how?

Go Home!

Creator and executive producer Josh Schwartz had hinted at Georgina's return in a past interview, but we're glad it's coming to fruition. The more drama, the merrier!

In related news have you heard the rumor that Georgina will turn out to be Lily and Rufus' MIA love child? Crazy, right?

Gone For Good

OMG:

Aaron Rose has gone to Argentina, which we know... and he's not coming back! Ever!

Try not to jump for joy!

Despite no ending seemingly written for the character's story arc, the CW has confirmed that December 8 ("O Brother Where Bart Thou?") was the last we'll see of John Patrick Amedori, who had played Aaron Rose in the past six episodes.

Aaron Rose Photo

But why is he gone so soon?

"Aaron Rose was a big character in the Gossip Girl books, and I know the plan was for him to stay around a little longer," a source close to the show says.

"But some of the powers that be weren't responding well to the way the character was going."

Therefore, he is gone.

Pause at 19- 21

OMG!

DERENA IS BACK... YES! Pause at the 19-20 second mark. We all know who that blond is and that is definitely lonely boy. :]

Below is a new promo just released for the episode(s) of the show coming our way after the new year. Gossip Girl returns January 5 with "In the Realm of the Basses" and after watching this video, we're even more excited and counting down the days.

The song playing is "Do I Have Your Attention?" by The Blood Arm. Enjoy!

Frenemies No More!

Gossip Girl executive producer Stephanie Savage says Blair and Dan will be playing opposite each other in the school play "and that brings out some very interesting conflict on both sides." OMG, could the frenemies become... friendly?!

Reality Index Gossip Girl Funeral Style

Every Tuesday, the most recent episode of Gossip Girl is examined by New York Magazine and assigned scores according to its "reality index." Below are some of the highlights (lowlights?) from the magazine's analysis of "O Brother, Where Bart Thou?"

Everybody knows Chuck sleeps with the room service twins at the Palace. Plus 1 because when people say it, it's kind of admiringly.

What cheesy, Hypnotiq-grade club liquor did Chuck steal from the bar? Surely he would have gone for a nice aged scotch. Minus 2.

Dan announces to Jenny that Serena is "going to Buenos Aires, with Aaron" in what tries to maybe be an Argentinean accent, but it comes out kind of Irish instead. Plus 1, because he would only know how to do one accent.

Rufus is sitting quietly in the dark. Minus 1, nobody does that in real life.

Aaron's invitation to Serenais effective immediately? That was convenient of Bart, to die over Christmas vacation like that. Minus 3.
HOLY EFFING SH!T DOROTA IS A BRIDESMAID! Plus 30.

While trying to sober Chuck up, Blair inadvertently reveals how good she is at the art of purging. Even Nate notices. Plus 2.
Minus 4 because Eleanor would have remembered all too well how Jenny screwed her by running off with her marquee dress.

"I'm not maternal, I've just been spending too much time with Cyrus and I'm turning Jewish," Blair says. "Come on, I see kugel." Plus 3.
Blair: "Whatever you're going through, I wanna be there for you."Chuck: "We've talked about this. You are not my girlfriend."Blair: "But I am me. And you are you. We're Chuck and Blair. Blair and Chuck. The worst thing you've ever done, the darkest thought you've ever had, I will stand by you through anything."Chuck: "And why would you do that."Blair: "Because I love you."Chuck: "Well, that's too bad."Us: "Plus 100."
Lily agrees to let Serena go to Buenos Aires selfishly, as she wants to run away with Rufus.
Never mind that Chuck is completely AWOL and poor, tragic, single Eric will be left alone. No wonder he tried to kill himself. Plus 3.
And also Minus 4 because Jenny, ugh, put some bottoms on, you're at a funeral reception.

Derena :]

Here are a couple of Gossip Girl spoiler / news items from Entertainment Weekly and TV Guide today.

Q: Are Gossip Girl's Dan and Serena going to get back together? Also, Chuck and Blair are obviously perfect for each other; how long are they going to lead us on?

A: While this week's episode may have led you to believe that Serena has chosen Aaron, don't count on that choice being permanent. Lonely Boy will be much less so after the holiday. Blair and Chuck, on the other hand, definitely will not be kissing each other when the ball drops on New Year's Eve.

Sneak A Bite

Gossip Girl Leighton Meester takes a quick bite of a hamburger on the set of her hit CW show while filming at the Museum of the City of New York on Tuesday afternoon. The 22-year-old actress joined co-stars Blake Lively and Penn Badgley to film scenes for an upcoming episode (also pictured below). An insider on the series hints to E Online that we’ve only just seen the beginning of Blair (Meester) and Chuck’s (Ed Westwick) relationship. They shared, “Chuck and Blair aren’t just the Gossip Girl couple of the moment. They are the core Gossip Girl couple of the series. So you definitely will see much, much more of them in the days to come. The dance has just begun.”

Its A Wonderful Lie Review

Every Tuesday, the previous night's Gossip Girl is picked apart by New York Magazine and assigned scores according to its amusing "reality index."bBelow are some highlights (and lowlights) from the magazine's analysis of "It's Wonderful Lie."

•Lexi's Brooklyn walking outfit consists of a hooker cheetah jacket, purple tights, a short pleated skirt, and black booties. Plus 3. We hate her so hard.
•Jenny and Nate's excuses not to date one another are always that the other one isn't into it. That's not a reason. Vanessa would see this and go bonkers. Minus 2.
• Blair: "I have depths that [Chuck] will never plumb." Not true, but great, gross imagery. Plus 2.
•Serena van der Woodsen is holding out on sex? Minus 2. That would have been the first weapon deployed in the Getting Aaron Rose to Commit Arsenal.
• Why is the party in the same place that the Kiss on the Lips party was? Minus 1.

•OMG, if Bart dies, does that make Lily a billionaire? Or better, does it make Chuck a billionaire? Either way, Plus 20.
•Vanessa Abrams kind of looked skinny and great in that outfit. Plus 5, because the only reason the girls at the ball would have made such a spectacle of seeing through it briefly would be because they were all jealous.
•You're not who I thought you were," Nate says to Jenny. What is he talking about? Sometimes we think he thinks he's on that other show where they all live in North Carolina. These are vintage One Tree Hill quotes. Minus 2.
•Plus 20 for the slightly uglier, ten times more hilarious Blair and Chuck knockoffs, and the fact that they are referred to as "Beta Chuck" and "New Blair."
•Dan Humphrey wouldn't want the four of them to go to the dance together. He's too awkward. That kind of setup would make his brow knit together so far his eyeballs would have to burrow into his brain. Minus 2.

Keep's Gettin Blairer

In a new promo, set to Christina Aguilera’s “Keeps Gettin’ Better,” the CW packs the best of Blair Waldorf - cat fights, scheming, sexy situations, trendy fashion, alternating hatred and love for Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) - into one 30-second clip.

It may not be quite as good as the Chuck Bass "Womanizer" spot, but this is one quality promo. Talk about the perfect soundtrack for Miss Blair!

Reality Index: The Magnificent Archibald's

Every week, the previous night's Gossip Girl is broken down by New York Magazine and assigned scores according to its amusing "reality index."Below are some highlights (and lowlights) from the magazine's analysis of "The Magnificent Archibalds."

• That was it? Lily's big secret was that she was in an institution? Serena killed someone. This is a bit of a letdown. Minus 3.

• "You don't know how he's been," Jenny says to Lily, as if Rufus has been making really unreasonable demands - insisting she go to school and not act like whore. Plus 2, because to a delinquent teenager, those are unreasonable demands.

• Jenny was staying at Lily's and the army of servants and private investigators didn't find out? What? What do they pay these people for? Minus 3.

• Rufus is in Lily's cell phone as "R." The code means the love! Plus 2.

• Blair is appalled that she was invited by Cyrus's family to shop at Century 21. Plus 2 (though we haven't forgotten all those Bluefly.com bags, B!).

• When Jenny sees Eleanor Waldorf behind Blair, she gapes, and Blair says, "What, is it my hair?" Plus 2, because she wasn't wearing a headband, and of course she'd be hairanoid.

• Everyone has started calling Eric "E" all of a sudden. What, did they think we wouldn't notice? Minus 1.

• Also, sorry, why is every holiday Blair's favorite holiday? Minus 3.

• Holy. F*%king. Fishnets. Serena's Thanksgiving dress makes her ass look like a soggy, flat apricot. A slutty apricot. Minus 5.

• Jenny's raccoon makeup is symbolically gone in the last scene. It's like how Eric got rid of his highlights when he finally came out! Plus 2.

• Dorota's ring for Eleanor is Britney Spears' "I'm a Slave 4 U." Plus 25.

• Nate went away for a couple of weeks to be with his mom, then just showed up at school? You can't just ditch for no reason and miss half a semester. Minus 4.
And my favorite • Serena and Dan are totally going to do it again. Plus 4.

The Magnificent Archibald's

Heres next week synopsis of The Magnificent Archibald's: It's Thanksgiving on the Upper East Side, and that means much drama with Blair, Roman, Cyrus and Eleanor. Yes, all in the same place. Also, Lily plays peacemaker between Jenny and Rufus. Thanksgiving in the Waldorf household finds Blair upset that Cyrus has not only moved in, but decided to change (ruin) all her favorite traditions. Lily, meanwhile, tries to broker a peace treaty between Rufus and Jenny, who is being even more difficult and says she is prepared to cut communications with her father off altogether if she doesn't get her way.Serena isn't quite ready to come clean with Aaron about her complicated past, but Dan ends up accidentally revealing a few tidbits of his own. Blair and Chuck both come to their old friend's aid when Nate Archibald is once again forced to confront his father's past and abandonment. Eric van der Woodsen also discovers a secret that Bart has been keeping from Lily.

Here's a sneak peek from the episode, full of witty comments from Blair and a freaky wall of photos of serena:
